At a recent party, yet another birthday for max, we tried a poem writing scheme whereby the first person writes two lines, covers the first one then the next seeing only the last line must rhyme to it then write a second they wish. This is the result...

Salmonella Tuesday or Witch Way Out of Salem?
By All of us

“Right on, right on,” she said nodding her head
The trance the dance and music everywhere.

There are more boobs on that cake than there is hair
Michelle’s fingers are crooked.

She died from his twisted hooked
Although she could not feel the pain.

It is so sad it happened on the train
She almost fainted.

On Tuesdays the bean dip was tainted
It was just another bad day at the deli.

Everything was very smelly
Personally I’d prefer lilies.

Though flowers are quite silly
So shall pass my times with palms. (explains the tainted bean dip)

Fell’s Point, Baltimore

We walked streets
Cobbles smoothed
By horses hooves
People
Traffic

I miss the festival
Beer garden concerts
In parking lots
Ceremony
Tradition

We walked alleys
Lined with stoops
Painted screens, scenes
Lighthouses
Landscapes

I miss the secret
Safety in the dark
I was young
Brave
Beautiful

We twisted what we had
East coast weed
Full of seeds
Dry
Brown

I miss the buzz
Of Monday off
Just wandering, wandering
Food
Drink

We said things
From movies
Like Puff
puff
give

I miss doing a number
With you and you
Got my jokes
Little
Eyes

We always leave
The alley here
And here we are at
Ding
How

I miss your irreverence
Especially how
You say
Ding
How

On Broadway
Past the market
Nickel beers at
Wee
Peter’s

I dream about
Shooting pool
And how I
Miss
You

Lulubelle Come Home

Jethro chases his prize hog
and bride to be,
You’d think,
Lulubelle,
How he chases
her.

Thru the turnip patch.
tearing it up,
Flinging dirt.
Heading for the bright
lights
yonder.

She wore a cowbell,
Clang
Clang
Around her neck
Harmonizing
with Jethro’s cries.
